Our second WINTER GALA was a great success and
with a $35,000 net profit, the monies have been distributed between
two specialized programs at Columbia University Medical Center:
The Integrative Therapies Program
for Children with Cancer provides a variety of complementary
and alternative medicine (CAM) services to help children and their
families as they progress through cancer therapy and into
survivorship. To ease side effects from treatment and to manage the
stress of a cancer diagnosis, the program offers the following:
herbal and nutrition counseling and guidance, aromatherapy,
acupuncture, acupressure, massage therapy, reflexology, Reiki,
meditation, exercise, yoga and movement therapy.
The Pediatric Cancer Foundation
Developmental Therapeutics Program promotes the discovery and
evaluation of new anti-cancer agents.
This program allows us to offer our patients, the patients at
our affiliate institutions, and those children with cancer
throughout the greater New York metropolitan region, many of the
newest and most cutting-edge treatments available in the United
States.
Thank you to our
committee and all the people who attended. It was a fantastic
night.
