Conquer Children's Cancer Act

Less than 10 cents of every dollar spent by the government on cancer research is used to investigate children's cancer. That is the stark fact that the Conquer Childhood Cancer Act of 2007 (H.R. 1553) seeks to address. Introduced earlier this year by Representative Deborah Pryce (R-Ohio), the summary of the bill is "To amend the Public Health Service Act to advance medical research and treatments into pediatric cancers, ensure patients and families have access to the current treatments and information regarding pediatric cancers, establish a population-based national childhood cancer database, and promote public awareness of pediatric cancers." The bottom line of the bill is that, if passed, $30,000,000 would be invested in childhood cancer research from 2008 through 2012 - an additional $150 million dollars toward helping our children!
